Patch with Flips.exe (Floating IPS Patcher) Download it here: To be used on a 8mb sm64 rom, Usually the general rom used is Super Mario 64 (U). It even adds 3D spinning models of all the coins, they look like they are from Super Mario Sunshine. This new edition is called Super Mario Star Road Enhanced Edition. It even fixes the black screen that is present when Frame Buffer Emulation is switched on with GlideN64! So now Super Mario Star Road has no problems whatsoever. So since Frame Buffer Emulation is disabled I cannot set the aspect ratio. Yet again Trenavix saves the day! When I set the resolution to anything over 1600 x 1200 in windowed and fullscreen it does this: Similar to issue #525, but it was closed with no fix. I have already tried the recent WIP version of GlideN64 and it still doesn't work. I am running Project64 version 2.3.2.202 and I have the latest public Release of GlideN64 which is 3.0. If you added a software frame buffer emulation setting it would probably fix all rom hacks. ![]() It works in Glide64 because they use software frame buffer emulation. It is unplayable with the black textures though. But disabling Frame Buffer Emulation gets rid of the black screen. I have tried all of the settings inside Project64's graphics settings within GlideN64, nothing makes the black textures go away. I am trying to use the entirety of my screen in windowed mode while playing Super Mario star Road. The reason I am using GlideN64 is because it is the only plugin that I know of that lets you make a custom windowed size. With new Super Mario 64 hacks on the rise, this should be fixed. It seems it has been an issue since 2015. This happens with almost all of the Super Mario 64 Rom hacks. I move skeletal control points to lie on that curve and then allow SceneKit’s code to move the geometry of the wire to match that skeleton. It’s a lot of math to figure out (shout out to Calca for helping me) but really adds some pizzaz to the app. It then travels in a direction towards the other object and then finally curves again to meet that objects’ port. I use a 3D Bézier curve that starts by matching its direction to the port it’s attached to. I am using skeletal meshing, a technology that is usually used for character movement in games, to accomplish this. One fun feature of iCircuit 3D is that its wires arc around the environment like real wires. This is a short section, I just thought the LED lights were fun. This actually overwhelms SceneKit because it has a maximum of 8 light sources, but things are pretty fun up until that point. I decided to make every LED a light source. Once you have a good lighting model, you need some good lights. That’s all done using a real-time generated texture. This is most notable on AA batteries who have a diffuse body, a shiny metallic stripe, then dull metallic contacts. The fact that you can vary these levels on a pixel-per-pixel level enables a lot of nice effects. Roughness lets you control how rough or shiny an object is and metalness controls the color of light reflected off the object. PBR requires that you provide three textures for every object: its color, its roughness, and its metalness. It’s actually a technology developed for movies to make visuals look less, well, plasticky and now I’m able to run it on my phone. PBR is the new hotness if real-time realistic-looking rendering. With that pattern I could confidently manipulate the scene graph from whatever thread I wanted. Whenever you want to manipulate rendered objects. When the user undos and redos, the system just has to figure out which of those values to restore to the property.Īll of this is achieved with property definitions such as this: That event captures the property’s value before and after the change. When a property changes, an undo change event is registered with the OS (Apple has NSUndoManager). The undo (and redo) system of the app is based on property changes. (Circuits can contain binary data thanks to image and board import facilities.) I also chose to use the BSON serialization format so that the app could handle binary data more efficiently. I’m able to serialize and restore entire object graphs (thanks to its object reference handling) and only have to be careful that I don’t serialize more than I need to. Serialization is a simple process thanks to advanced libraries like Newtonsoft.Json. The key was to base both undo and serialization on properties of objects. I decided to solve both problems in a generic way that would require very little on-going work. Properties FTWĪ mental road block I often run into when starting a new app is how to handle serialization and undo buffers. Sometimes when you’re stuck, the best thing to do is to lean into your strengths. I’ve been writing OOP programs since the 1990s and I am very comfortable with the abstraction and patterns. I decided to go OOP, in some ways, to rid myself of writer’s block too. Like it or hate it, OOP is well understood at this point. But react style programming of a real-time engine like this is not trivial and I found myself trailblazing a bit more than I like. This is funny considering that I am quite an advocate for functional programming and more reactive style UI design these days. In fact, this may be the largest OOP app I’ve ever built. ![]() ![]() :-) The null reference checking feature of C# 8 has been especially useful in tracking down bugs. I started with C# 7 but C# 9 had already been released by the time I shipped the app. ![]() ICircuit 3D is written 100% in C# using Xamarin.iOS and Xamarin.Mac. Maybe you can get some ideas for your next app from it! So here is a very extended colophon for the app. iCircuit 3D has been a work of passion over the last couple years and I thought I would take a moment to describe some of the more interesting technical aspects of it. Today I’m pleased to announce the macOS release of iCircuit 3D! Last week I released the iOS version to a wonderful reception and I’m happy to now be able to give all the Mac users out there the same experience. ![]() First, a minimum filter is applied, which is pretty effective in filtering out short-term gain variations. Think of it like a sliding window approach. The Dynamic Audio Normalizer mostly avoids the "pumping" problem by looking at a certain neighborhood around each frame rather than individual frames. This would be the case, if we simply calculated the maximum possible gain factor for each frame and then applied that gain factor to the frame - which would result in strong and unsteady gain fluctuations. And if that isn't desired, then the Dynamic Audio Normalizer is not the proper tool for whatever you are trying to achieve :)Ĭompressing the audio the traditional way and "compressing it" by increasing the volume of the quiet parts are both susceptible to the same "pumping" problem, where you can hear the volume of background sounds going up and down. It's probably better to think of this as harmonizing the volume of the "quiet" and "loud" sections of the file. And if your input file already contains peaks of maximum signal level in regular intervals, it will be passed trough unmodified. But within each section the full dynamic range is retained. In a certain way, this also is a dynamic range compression, yes. The difference between a "standard" normalizer and the Dynamic Audio Normalizer is that the latter readjusts the gain factor over time, so "quiet" sections of the track can get a stronger amplification than "loud" sections. This means that the maximum gain factor is restricted by the highest magnitude sample. It simply applies a certain gain factor to the samples, but doesn't prune any samples before that. The dynamic range has been reduced significantly.Īt the same time, the Dynamic Audio Normalizer works more like a "standard" normalizer. The results in a much "louder" signal, but the peaks are gone for good. The compressor first "flattens" the signal peaks (by reducing all samples above a predefined threshold), which results in a certain headroom, and then applies a fixed gain in order to bring the signal to the maximum level again. ![]() Since you mention "compression" and "loudness war" I just want to clarify that the Dynamic Audio Normalizer doesn't quite work like a compressor. Good audio tracks have the Dynamic Range than the author want, and compress it is not recommended at all. I think can be applied to some audios bad recorded, but I don't think is for use always. ![]() The author, LoRd_MuldeR, is a moderator in this forum then, maybe, can help you about this. There's another free WinAmp "compressor" DSP here (). I wouldn't normally compress while encoding, but I will give the DynamicAudioNormalizer a spin at some stage. I'm not needing to constantly adjust it as you probably would using standard compression.Īnyway. well my setup is pretty much set and forget. Normalising the way the DynamicAudioNormalizer does it tends to be easier to configure than standard compression though. The more you compress, the more it's likely to happen. I wasn't overly excited about Levelator but it's not designed for soundtrack audio.Ĭompressing the audio the traditional way and "compressing it" by increasing the volume of the quiet parts are both susceptible to the same "pumping" problem, where you can hear the volume of background sounds going up and down. I was comparing the RockSteady plugin to Levelator (). If you're interested, I posted about the way I compress audio on playback in this thread (). If the DynamicAudioNormalizer works as well as the WinAmp RockSteady () plugin, and they seem to work in a similar fashion, it should be a good thing. I'm not a fan of altering/compressing the audio before encoding it (at least not for general soundtrack audio), so I do it on playback instead, but not everyone uses a PC as a media player. It seems to work very much like the WinAmp "compressor" plugin I've been using with ffdshow for years. ![]() If you don’t plan, you’re planning to fail.Īmong the topics you’ll be covering in your masterclass is connective tissue grafting (CTG) and, specifically, maxillary tuberosity CTG. Released in late March 2020, just as the pandemic was forcing people inside, Kid Krow debuted at number five on the Billboard 200 chart. Within months, he was off on his first tour, and for the next year, he worked on writing and recording his debut album. He dropped out of school soon after and never looked back, releasing his first EP, Sunset Season, in November of that year. Gray was wrapping up his first year of college in 2018 when he was offered a contract and began working with producer Dan Nigro. The song, which now has over 20 million views, eventually got the attention of Republic Records. His senior year of high school, Gray put out a song called “Idle Town,” a slow, tender reflection on the small town he was leaving for UCLA. And for those who had already left, his songs were a gut punch of nostalgia sung over a dreamy pop production. For listeners who felt stuck in suburbia, his music offered an escape, proof that one day they’d get out of their small towns too. He looked at the popular kids, the cheerleaders and football players, and filled in the details about their idyllic families and lives in his lyrics, sometimes romanticizing them, other times poking at the facade. “I was the fly on the wall, the observer of life. He had a small, tight-knit group of friends he’s still close with today, but he often spent time alone, people-watching. “I don’t even know why I did it or how I knew how to do it,” he says.īeing a newcomer and one of the few mixed-race kids-his father is of Irish American heritage, his mother is Japanese-in Georgetown’s sleepy retirement community made Gray a natural outsider. His mother had bought him a bright blue acoustic guitar, and while he didn’t show much interest at first, he came around to it after stumbling upon a video of Adele singing “Daydreamer.” After that, music just started pouring out of him. He turned to writing music as a way to cope, and he completed his first songs when he was twelve. As he summed it up in a video from 2016, it was a childhood marked by “debt, foreclosure, angry rich people, angry poor people, eviction, running from the cops, child protective services, and a lot of yelling.” The years that followed were spent folding stepparents and stepsiblings into his life, making and losing friends, and adjusting to each of his parents’ efforts to provide a stable life. Gray and his older sister often moved back and forth between their respective homes. His parents divorced when he was three years old, and they settled separately in Central Texas. There were stints in Arizona, then Hiroshima, Japan, to take care of his sick grandfather. His account is dedicated almost entirely to music and lyric videos now, but for several years, it was a live journal of his life, with entries titled “Me at 17 For My Future Self,” “Being Mixed Race,” “18 Mistakes I Learned From by 18,” and “Getting Into My Dream School” (UCLA, in case you were wondering).īorn in Southern California, he spent the first years of his childhood in constant motion. ![]() Gray began posting vlogs, covers, and his first original songs to YouTube when he was a freshman at Georgetown High School. He’s in Austin, thirty miles south from where he grew up in Georgetown, for the second stop on his 2022 world tour. “Writing music is horribly painful,” Gray tells me. It encourages you to scream, to cry, to dance the sorrow out. His music isn’t there to console you or coax you out of your heartbreak. As you get older, it’s easy to look back and feel embarrassed by the messiness and melodrama of your youth, but Gray isn’t about that. In his songs he’s (metaphorically) bleeding from a backstab, he’s going to wreck someone’s car, and he’s wishing his crush’s girlfriend were dead. The 23-year-old singer-songwriter has built an impressive fan base-4.6 million subscribers on YouTube, where in 2013 he started posting videos of himself performing in his bedroom-thanks to confessional lyrics that read like diary entries. |
